Tucked away in the beautiful mountain town of Whistler in British Columbia, Alta Bistro has carved itself out a spot in the dining scene in Whistler offering modern seasonal alpine cuisine.

Founded in 2010 by a few passionate restaurant people, we took off on a journey of hard work, persistence, quality and a never compromise attitude.

We pride ourselves on seasonality, quality produce and fine techniques. We work year round to provide the best examples of produce and from local suppliers.

Ethos such as these guide the food, the wine, cocktails and all selections made by our team from purveyors. We want your experience to be unique, fun and exciting.

Our team is our family, and every day we work with one another to bring the best to the table. Our team focuses on the guests and the business focuses on the employees.

We have made a choice to highlight the importance to the guest via a benefit which is collected from each guest check from a small percentage of total sales before tax. Employee Health Benefit is our terminology and it is an opening for a conversation for our well being.

EMPLOYER HEALTH BENEFIT (EHB) 2% of net sales before tax from each guest cheque is collected to support employee health benefits programs, wellness benefits, and all staff initiatives.

You might ask: So why show it separately on the bill? Why not just ‘charge’ more for your food or drink? We want to have a clear way to show what we are able to commit to our employees at the end of the year and we feel that being upfront and showing the guest they are contributing and it is line item - mix in to our gross margin in food and beverage, it will be eroded away with inflation. Furthermore, the seasonality of Whistler’s business is not for the faint hearted: 4 months healthy profit, 2 months break-even or marginal profit, 6 months at a loss.

And with this - we want to be here for you year after year and be able to continue our quest for good food and good service.

If you disagree and do not want to contribute to our employee health benefits, let us know and we will remove from your bill.
